When I tried to focus on the best technique on my breaststroke swims, I went ~1:20. On #7, I actually thought I was going faster because I was getting a good chest press then pop out, scull in, shoot hands forward and kick. My turnover was slower though and my kick was not snapping because I was focused on the top part of the stroke. On #8, I worked more on turnover and trying to really finish my kick hard. That made a big difference.
I'm getting better at accelerating my hands in and forward. I used to also rush the outsweep a lot more, and I think that made me more tired. I still have to focus on keeping my head down more--I still look forward a lot, especially when tired.
