I was in the fast lane with fast people, jockeying around with the end spot. I was making the intervals until that last set of 100s. Then I got confused and thought the faster ones were on the 1:25. I felt slow because the fastest guy in our lane caught me about halfway through that last set. But that's not the reality (Slow), because I'm swimming faster long course than ever. A couple of weeks ago, I got passed after about 1300 meters. This time, it took 2500, so that's improvement I suppose.
I could move over to the next lane but I can make the intervals there without much pain, so I figure I'll keep sticking out the challenge and humility of being in the fast lane. Even if it means I have to stop to let people pass. It will make me a better swimmer.
I also figured something else out while taking a beating on that last set. If I engage my abs, I'm much more streamlined. I don't think I do that much, but from now on I'm tightening my tummy as much as possible. I'm sure it reduces form drag, as well as keeping me straighter.
