Hmmm. I need to work on getting my freestyle split down. I probably could have let up some on the fly and gained 2 seconds in the freestyle. I felt like my first 300 yards is how I want to swim it, though, at Nationals. My backstroke felt excellent.
I think I need to do some more speed/lactate work on freestyle. I've done a lot of it for the backstroke/breaststroke leg this year and that has paid off -- My middle 200 was close to that of the 2 guys who went 4:32 -- but I couldn't find that sprint gear at the end. I swam it with the 1000 stroke.
I need to be doing more fast freestyle when I'm tired to get that final leg down closer to 1:00. It'll go down when I drop in altitude, I'm sure, but I can't just rely on that; I need to do some work on top of that.
